Daniel Burroughs

Daniel J. Burroughs, 50, of Waukon died Monday, October 2, 2017 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday, October 13 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, where there will be a 6:30 p.m. scripture service. Burial will be held at a later date in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waukon.

Daniel James Burroughs was born July 23, 1967 in Waukon, the son of Garland and Lorna (Rumsey) Burroughs. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, and graduated from Waukon High School in 1986. Dan worked at Northern Engraving in Waukon until the plant closed in 2008. He then went to work for Benjegerdes Machine in Waukon until he became disabled. Dan enjoyed demolition derbies, watching his brothers drive race cars and working in the pits.

Survivors include his mother, Lorna Burroughs of Waukon; his father, Gale “Bugsy” Burroughs of Waukon; two brothers: David (Sue) Burroughs of Waterville and Darren (Angie) Burroughs of Monona; a sister, Deborah (Steve) Wolfe of Woodruff, WI; a step-sister, Crystal Weahkee of Rossville; his nieces and nephews, Michael Burroughs, Danielle (Adam) Chase, Mitch Burroughs, Ryan and Tracy Schulte, Aubrie (Patrick Monroe) Lenz, Mercedes, Brett Ann, Preston and Dalton Burroughs, Michael Wolfe and Nicki Wolfe Mathison; and five great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandparents; and a step-sister, Carrieanne Larson.

Honorary casketbearers were Aaron Folsom, Charles "Chip" Lamb, Larry Troendle, Preston, Dalton and Mitch Burroughs, and Mike Wolfe.
