Alice Luster

Alice Luster, 88, of Lansing died Monday, July 15, 2019 at her home in Lansing. Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, July 19 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lansing with Rev. John Moser as the Celebrant. Inurnment followed at Gethsemane Cemetery, Lansing.

Alice Dorothy was born December 17, 1930 to Benjamin and Mary (McNamara) Mullarkey in Lansing. She was baptized at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wexford. Alice graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1948.

Alice was united in marriage with Norbert Hawes August 22, 1950 in Wexford. Norbert passed away January 18, 1955. Alice was then united in marriage with Ernest Luster June 29, 1957. Alice worked as the Superintendent’s Secretary for Eastern Allamakee Community School District for 27 years until her retirement. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Alice was very active in church and community groups, including the Rosary Society and National Catholic Society of Foresters. She enjoyed walking, baking and spending time with family. Alice volunteered at Thornton Manor.

Alice is survived by her children, Mary Carpenter of New York, NY, Jean (Carl) Ruzich of Beecher, IL, Dennis (Kate) Luster of Rockford, IL, Bruce (Kathy) Luster of Frisco, TX and Sara (Juan Carlos) Meza of Ponte Vedra, FL; a daughter-in-law, Carol Luster of East Lansing, MI; her grandchildren, Amy, Anna, Ben, Kristen, Lisa, Elizabeth, Olivia, Emma, Maggie, Annie and Jack; six great-grandchildren, Zachary, Brittany, Kyle, Lindsey, Cole and Annalyn; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Mullarkey.

Alice was preceded in death by her husbands, Norbert Hawes and Ernest Luster; her parents, Benjamin and Mary Mullarkey; a son, Thomas Luster; a grandson, Kevin Carpenter; her siblings, Rita Brannan, Linus Mullarkey, Ann DeLong, Elizabeth Burg, Francis Mullarkey, Mary Schellhammer, Vincent Mullarkey and infant siblings, Mary Florence, Marguerite and Bernard.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Lansing assisted the family with arrangements.
