Ellen Waters

Ellen Marie Waters, 88, of Dows passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Sheffield Care Center. Private family services will be held at a later date at Waukon due to the COVID-19 virus.

Ellen was born July 26, 1931 at Burr Oak, the daughter of Lyle and Sena (Baker) Masters. Ellen attended school at Canton, MN. In 1948, she was united in marriage to George J. Waters. They were blessed with nine children. Ellen spent most of her life as a wonderful homemaker, but did work for a few years at the Dows Care Center, Franklin Manufacturing in Webster City and the Turkey Plant in Ellsworth.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George (Stub); her sons, Mike and Tim; a great-granddaughter, Scarlett Rose Dickerson; a nephew, Michael Helland; her brothers-in-law, Merlyn Helland, Floyd Waters, Bill Waters, Earl Waters, Ronnie Waters and Danny Waters; and her sisters-in-law, Deloris Lundsford, Helen Dixon, Kate Kirkeby and Evelyn Peters.

Surviving are her children, Phyllis (Randy) Murphy of Belmond, Helen (Dave) Patten of Cedar Rapids, Pat (Cindy) Waters of Springfield, MO, Kathy (Lynn) Braun of Dows and Dennis Waters of Minneapolis, MN, her daughter-in-law, Colleen Waters of Dows, Carmel Dickerson of Dows and Robert (Sue) Waters of Dows; her grandchildren, Jolee (Troy) Coberly, Tracy (Jason) Martin, David (Naida) Patten, Shane (LeAnn) Braun, Clint Braun, Kyle (Jodi) Braun, Trent (Jamie) Claude, Ashley (Heather) Dickerson, Tayler (Jared) Moestchen, Dr. Laura Waters, Nick (Jaime) Murphy, Randy Barz, Tim Barz and Daniel (Yosemery) Rosendo; her great-grandchildren, Alexis Coberly, Lane Coberly, Gunner Martin, Gracy Martin, Gralynn Martin, Melisa Merdanovic, Bradley Barz, Parker Claude, Cade Parks, Toby Braun, Joseph Rico, Daisy Dickerson, Josie Braun, Ava Braun, Blakelee Murphy, Tucker Murphy, Brayden Moestchen, Zoey Moestchen and Oliver Moestchen; a great-great-granddaughter, Gracelynn Gere; her sister, Marilyn Helland; her sisters-in-law, Leonette Troendle, Shirley Waters and Iris Waters; her brothers-in-law, Donald Waters and Ralph Waters; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
