Waukon Middle School Football Camp for those entering seventh, eighth grades is August 11-13

The Waukon High School and Middle School football coaching staffs are planning to host the 2020 Waukon Indian Middle School Football Camp August 11-13. The camp, run by the Waukon football coaching staffs with help from high school players, is a non-contact camp aimed at teaching the fundamentals of offensive and defensive play for the Waukon football program.

The camp is planned to be held as scheduled “pending guidance and prior approval” taking into consideration the current COVID-19 situation, so parents and student-athletes should be attentive for further updates. Those updates will be communicated through the school district website and the middle school football website (both listed below), social media, as well as the newspaper if time permits.

Due to this year’s COVID-19 precautions, camp athletes are required to bring their own water supply to this year’s camp. There will be no water available as in previous years in an effort to avoid sharing and contact at the same water stations.

Participants should plan to attend camp in shorts and a t-shirt, and should bring football cleats. Camp will take place at the middle school practice football field west of the Waukon High School parking lot.

The middle school camp for students entering seventh and eighth grades this fall will be held Tuesday-Thursday, August 11-13. The camp will be held from 8-10 a.m. each of those three days. Those planning to attend the middle school camp are required to completely fill out the registration form accompanying this article in the August 5, 2020 edition of The Standard, or one distributed to them, and mail it and the $25 registration fee to the address listed on the form before camp, but registration forms will be accepted right up to the first day of camp.
