Larry White

Larry D. White, 81, of Pepin, WI and Kingman, AZ passed away Monday, September 27, 2021 at home after a long illness, with his wife at his side. Larry was known to many of his friends and co-workers as “Whitey”.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 15 at Tillinghast Park in Harpers Ferry with Pastor Brian Mincks officiating.  In the event of inclement weather, the service will be moved to the banquet room at the Spillway Supper Club in Harpers Ferry. A lunch and time of fellowship will follow the service at the banquet room of the Spillway Supper Club.

Larry David White was born June 15, 1940 in Cedar Rapids, the only child of Leonard and Maxine (Bradley) White. He graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1957. He was a long-time member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Labor Union. Larry served actively as President of the local IBEW and Chairman of the IBEW Health and Welfare. Larry and Joan owned and operated the Spillway Supper Club in Harpers Ferry for seven years, where he enjoyed cooking and conversing with customers.

Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and spending time with his wife, Joan. Larry loved staying busy in his retirement with helping others with their handyman projects. He was very knowledgeable about repairs, electrical, construction and general household projects.

Larry enjoyed watching the Hawkeyes and Packers, his favorite teams. He loved the campground life at Lake Pepin and visiting with other people around the campfire. The highlight of time on the Mississippi was fishing for stripers.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Joan (Sess); her children, Steven (Kelli) McKee, Monte McKee and Robin (Reggie) Adam; his children: Charles (Debbie), Kim and Karie; several step-grandchildren; two grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Jim (Melissa) Sess.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Maxine (Bradley) White.

Larry was a proud supporter of veterans. His favorite charity was the Wounded Warrior Project, which he faithfully donated to monthly. The IBEW has donated $250 to the project in Larry’s name.
