“Baby, It’s Cold Outside!” is theme for Veterans Memorial Healthcare Foundation’s 30th Annual Christmas Fantasy scheduled for this weekend

The 30th annual Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation Christmas Fantasy will be held this weekend. The theme will be “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” which is fitting for an outdoor Fantasy.

A drive-through of lighted displays will be out in front of the Allamakee County Fairgrounds Pavilion in Waukon for anyone wanting to drive through or walk through evenings during the event, which will be held Thursday-Monday, November 18-22. The grounds will be open from 5-9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday nights and from 4-7 p.m. Monday night. The format of the event was changed again this year to keep the event COVID-safe.

Silent Auction items will be displayed inside the Pavilion for anyone who would like to walk through the display of numerous items. Bidding for all the Silent Auction items will be done entirely online this year. Photos with descriptions of each item will be entered into the online auction website, which is hosted by Sweeney Auction Service.

Visitors to the drive-through Fantasy are welcome to park and enter the Pavilion any evening of the event to view all of the silent auction items and learn how they can bid on them online. Directions for online bidding will also be posted  on the hospital’s Facebook page and website at www.veteransmemorialhospital.com. Anyone anywhere, whether they attend the Fantasy or not, is welcome to watch and bid on any items they are interested in until the auction ends at 7 p.m. Monday night, November 22.

Drive-through meals will also be offered throughout the event. Reservations can be made by calling 563-568-6262 and must be called in five days prior to any of these meals. These meals will be offered as carry-out meals only from the Pavilion and must be reserved five days in advance.
Santa Claus will be on the Christmas Fantasy grounds Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from 5:30-7 p.m. He will be available to visit with children and listen to their wish list and pose for photos as well. A mail box for sending letters to the North Pole will also be on site for anyone who wants to get their letter to Santa sent early.

Additional information regarding the event, including a schedule of events, can be found in the advertisement on Page 19 of this edition of The Standard. The event is organized by the Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation members including Kevin Hanson, President; Jay Mathis, Vice President; Craig Lensing, Secretary; Nancy Schoh, Treasurer; Rose Beardmore, Sue Blagsvedt, Mitch Duncklee, Patty Goltz, Dan Headington, Judy Herman, Jane Kallevang, Ardie Kuhse, Nona Sawyer, Kim Sylvester, Matt Teslow and Kay Zimmerman.
