Richard Odegard

Richard “Ode” T. Odegaard, 77, of Waukon died Wednesday, December 15, 2021 peacefully at his home with family and his beloved dog, Ty, by his side. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, December 29 at 1 p.m. at Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon with Deacon Patrick Malanaphy officiating. Burial of ashes will be held at a later date.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. Masks are required. The service will be live streamed on Martin-Grau Funeral Home’s facebook page as well.

Richard Thomas Odegaard was born November 30, 1944 in St. Paul, MN, the son of Arnold and Evelyn (Winters) Odegaard. He was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Winona, MN. Dick served in the United Sates Navy and attended one year of college at the community college in Rochester, MN.

He was married to Donna Ruth Mullane for 30 years. Dick drove postal truck for the United States Postal Service in Denver, CO, was an EMT in Rochester, MN, served as police chief in Pine Island, MN, was a deputy sheriff in Hayward, WI, and was an ordained minister. Dick enjoyed working with leather, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Donna, of Waukon; his children: Daar (Tony) Humphrey of St. Paul, MN, Kari (Gary) Rosendahl of Waukon, Terry Odegaard of La Crosse, WI, Chad Odegaard of Waukon and Erik Odegaard of Oklahoma City, OK; seven grandchildren: Katy (George) Ward, Amber Humphrey, Cody Beardmore, Rebeca (Tim) Krogan, Zachary (Ashley) Odegaard, Nicholis (Morgan) Odegaard and Casey Odegaard; seven great-grandchildren; five sisters: Dee Maass, Julia (William) Moore, Frances Bertnick, Joann Swinford and Debbie Looney; and his beloved dog, Ty.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Evelyn (Winters); a granddaughter, Lacey Humphrey; a sister, Bonnie Todd; and a brother, Arnold Drake Odegaard, Jr.

Honorary casketbearers are Terry, Zachary, Nicholis, Casey, Chad, Devin and Dakota Odegaard, Cody Beardmore and Tim Krogan.
