Allamakee Scholarship Fund to host 24th Annual Scholarship Fundraiser

Mailed letters will replace phone calls again this year

The Allamakee Scholarship Fund (ASF), Inc. phon-a-thon held in February has been the major fundraiser for the organization and is conducted by the student applicants in conjunction with the Allamakee Scholarship Fund, Inc. Board of Directors. In past years students used phone banks at Waukon High School and at Waukon State Bank and FreedomBank in Waukon.

Last year with COVID-19 precautions, no phone calling was done and students addressed and mailed phon-a-thon donation letters. That will hold true again for this 2021-2022 fundraiser also. Dates for those mailings to be completed this year are Thursday, February 10, Tuesday, February 15 and Wednesday, February 16.

Every dollar raised by the campaign goes to student scholarships and is tax-deductible. All funds raised from this year’s fundraiser will be awarded this spring to scholarship applicants of the Waukon High School Class of 2022. Pledges need to be returned by March 30 so that spring scholarship plans by the organization can be completed.

Julie Rotach, Allamakee Scholarship Fund, Inc. President, stated, “The community encouragement for the students has been super in past years and we hope to continue that educational support this year. Since 1993, Allamakee Scholarship Fund, Inc. has awarded $1,241,665 in scholarships to 1,747 graduating seniors and alumni in the ACSD. It is exciting to see that our community encourages and is so supportive of our students’ post-high school education goals. Last year, 66 students received $91,677 in scholarship awards. For the 17th year, the ASF board will also award alumni scholarships.”
