Rachael Marie Gannon, originally of Coralville, and Aaron Thomas Palmer, originally of Waukon, exchanged vows in a wedding ceremony held at the Village Creek Bible Camp in rural Lansing Saturday, January 22, 2022. The 11:30 a.m. indoor ceremony was officiated by Pastor Tom Buresh with this intimate gathering having approximately 100 attendees present on a beautiful, sunny day with freshly fallen snow.

The bride is the daughter of Michael and Denise Gannon of Coralville. She is a 2008 graduate of West High School in Iowa City and a 2012 graduate of University of Northern Iowa (UNI). She is employed as the Assistant Vice President and Branch Lending Manager at FreedomBank in Decorah.

The groom is the son of Gregory and Marlene Palmer of Waukon. He is a 2005 graduate of Waukon High School and a 2009 graduate of Iowa State University (ISU). He is employed as a Territory Sales Manager at STgenetics in northeast Iowa and southeast Minnesota.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. The Maid of Honor was Maria Koester, sister of the bride. The bride’s personal attendant was Kelly Gannon, sister-in-law of the bride. Bridesmaids included Julie Archer, Dawn Schweizer, Ashley Nordeen and Hannah Evert, all friends of the bride.

The bride wore a white sleeveless dress with a pink shawl and carried a bouquet of white, light pink and purple flowers. The bride wears an engagement ring from Elliott Jewelers and received the ring of her late maternal grandmother, Sue Durian, as her wedding ring.

The bridesmaids wore slate blue dresses with white shawls and carried bouquets of white and light pink flowers. The bride’s and bridesmaids’ hair was styled by Kayla Schnuelle of Castalia.

The Best Man was Seth Kohler, friend of the groom,  with Groomsmen including Peter Moore, Alexander Crippin, Benjamin Wells and Jonathan Promnitz, all friends of the groom. Guests were ushered in by Jacob, Jonathan and James Gannon, all brothers of the bride.

The groomsmen and ushers wore navy suits with pink bow ties and pink pocket squares. The groom wore a tuxedo of matching style. The groom’s and groomsmen’s outfits were ordered through Teslow’s Formalwear of Waukon. The groom’s wedding ring is from Elliott Jewelers.

Ceremonial music was played by pianist Lindsey Lund, cousin of the groom. A solo and piano accompaniment were sung and played by Madalyn Palmer, niece of the groom.

Scripture readings were Colossians 3:12-15 (NIV) by Jonathan Gannon, brother of the bride, and Matthew 7:24-27 (NIV) by John Palmer, brother of the groom. The bride and groom wrote and read their own personal vows.

The ceremony was directly followed by lunch, dessert, dancing, games and socializing at the reception held at Village Creek Bible Camp in rural Lansing. Lunch was prepared and served by the Village Creek Bible Camp staff. Reception speeches were given by the Maid of Honor, Best Man, fathers of the bride and groom, and the newlywed couple.

The Guest Book Attendant was Christine Ellickson, sister of the groom. Cake Cutters were Shiloh Green and Jenni Vega, co-workers of the bride, with the couple’s cake being created by Shiloh Green.

Outdoor and indoor photography was provided by Camie and Tom Treptau. The couple would like to thank and recognize Camie Treptau as their wedding planner and the entire Village Creek Bible Camp staff for their professional work with set-up, meal preparation and clean-up.

The couple honeymooned with a week-long drive south. They now make their home in Decorah.
