Friends may greet the family from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements.

LaVonne Mary Schulte was born June 12, 1944 in Spring Grove, MN, the daughter of Vincent and Rose Katherine (Hancock) Schulte. After graduating from Waukon High School, LaVonne moved to Cedar Rapids to work for Rockwell Collins. She eventually moved back to Allamakee County, where she worked for several years in food service, including as a cook at Northgate Care Center in Waukon, and also worked for Mosaic. As a great cook, LaVonne enjoyed making treats to give out, too.

She was a devoted member at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon and also loved polka music, so she absolutely adored the polka masses the church sometimes held. Mollie B and Daniel O’Donnell were her favorite musicians; LaVonne was a dedicated watcher of their shows and was able to attend a few concerts.

LaVonne also enjoyed shopping and collected most everything related to cardinals. She treasured her grandchildren, nieces and nephews and the time spent with them. The number-one thing people most likely remember about her would be her good sense of humor, as she never met a dirty joke she didn’t like and wasn’t afraid to say exactly what was on her mind.

LaVonne is survived by her two children, Lisa (Paul) Wickham of Davenport and Lyle Erding of Cresco; two grandsons, Nick Peterschmidt of Davenport and Tony Wickham of Iowa City; her siblings: Thomas (Carole) of Juneau, WI, Robert (Diane) of Burlington, WI, Dan (Mary) of Ankeny, Matt of Mason, OH and Al (Paula) of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sharon Schulte.

Honorary casketbearers are her grandsons, nieces and nephews. Online condolences may be left at www.martinfunerals.com.
