Conrad “Connie” A. Barr, 78, of Waukon died Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at his home in rural in Waukon. A prayer service was held Friday, August 19 at Martin - Grau Funeral Home in Waukon with Pastor Kim Gates officiating. Burial was at Smithfield Cemetery, rural Monona. Memorials may be sent to Warren Barr at 849 Forest Mills Road, Waukon, IA, 52172.

Conrad “Connie” Allen Barr was born March 18, 1944 in rural Waukon, the son of Harry and Grace (McShane) Barr. He attended the Jefferson #8 school through the eighth grade. January 13, 1973, he married Cynthia Joyce Reed at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua, WI. Connie was self-employed as a mechanic and owned and operated Barr’s Repair located in Jefferson Township, rural Waukon, repairing cars, trucks and tractors.

Connie played steel guitar; he was the featured guitar player in Carl Thompson’s band and played with other area bands, too. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors. He loved fishing, mushroom hunting, riding motorcycle and spending time with his family at Penny Springs in the Waukon countryside.

Survivors include his children: Chris (Dawn) Barr of Palo, Chad Barr of Waukon, Shayne (Bethany) Barr of Lake St. Louis, MO, Warren (June) Barr of Waukon and Patrick (Jeannie Willard) Barr of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson on the way; a brother-in-law, Randy (Diane) Reed of Kenosha, WI; and a nephew, Winston Landt of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cynthia, who died in 2018; and a sister, Judy, and her husband, Harvey Landt.

Honorary casketbearers were Ryan Benzing, Betty Decker, John Egan, Randy Reed, Joe Sweeney and previous band members. Casketbearers were Chris, Warren, Patrick and Abraham Barr, Caleb Roffman, Don Miller and Jim Adam.
