Norma Perry

Norma Jean Perry, 76, passed away peacefully Friday, August 26, 2022 at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, with her family by her side. Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 2 at Community Presbyterian Church in Postville with Karla Johnson as the officiant. Inurnment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Castalia.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, September 1 at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home in Postville. There will also be a one-hour visitation before service at the church Friday.

Norma was born December 31, 1945 to Dale and Minnie (Hill) Weston in Decorah. She graduated from Valley High in 1964. Norma was united in marriage to Kenneth M. Perry June 7, 1964 at the Methodist Church in Elgin.

Ken and Norma farmed in Castalia until 1965, and then moved to Cedar Rapids. Norma was employed at Collins in 1968 and worked there for over 30 years. She was a very proud member of the IBEW 1362. Following Norma’s retirement, she and Ken moved to Waukon. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Throughout her life, Norma loved baking, cooking, sewing, crocheting, gardening, camping and bird watching. She thoroughly enjoyed sharing her creations with others. Norma’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Norma was greatly loved and will be missed by all.

Survivors include Norma’s devoted husband, Kenneth Perry of Waukon; her sons, Ken (Shellie) Perry of Marion, Kirk (Brenda) Perry of Cedar Rapids and Kyle (Chris) Perry of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Sean (Ashli) Perry, Shannon O’Brien-Perry and Tyler Perry: her great-grandchildren, Jakoby and Aspen Perry; her siblings, Ardith (Richard) Barnes, Dawn (Joel) Menuey, Charlotte (Zeke) Seedorff, Roger (Judy) Weston and Rose Weston. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Minnie Weston; her sister, Janet Keefe; and her brother-in-law, Dale Batterson.

The family wishes to express its gratitude to the staff at Hiawatha Care Center, Mercy ER and the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha for the excellent care given to Norma and her family.
