Howard Seibert

Howard Seibert, 68, died Thursday, October 6, 2022 at his home in Harpers Ferry. A celebration of his life will be held November 10 from 4-8 p.m. at Green Valley Getaway in Waukon. Food will be provided, and anyone that knew him is welcome to attend.

Howard was born July 13, 1954 in Waukon to the late John and Norma (Klein) Seibert. His youth was spent working on the family farm in Ludlow where he developed a lifelong love of caring for animals and working with his hands. He married Rhonda Bloxham in 1977, and they made a home south of Waukon where they raised three boys.

Howard recently remarked that the best time of his life was when his boys were little. He enjoyed taking his sons on jobs and teaching them the importance of hard work. He also enjoyed taking them fishing, to flea markets, and to Effigy Mounds.

During this time, he had an impressive collection of exotic animals that included four-horned sheep, fainting goats, rheas, exotic chickens, chinchillas, peacocks, hedgehogs and a variety of other animals. In his later years, he enjoyed collecting antiques and spending time with his sons and grandchildren.

Survivors include his brothers: John (Beverly Sorenson), James (Linda Dahlstrom), Robert (Diane McMillan), Kenneth (Janet Nelson) and Richard (Elizabeth Aldrich); two sisters, Cheryl (Lyle Nierling) and Joanne (Larry Gelo); three sons, Benjamin (Melissa Waters), Matthew (Kayla Fish) and Alec (Taylor Day); 17 grandchildren: Attica, Walter, Biniyam, Estifanos, Madelia, Henry, Evelyn, Beatrix, Violet and another expected granddaughter, Emma and Macklen, and Leah, Jennifer, Lextyn, Jayden, Katie and Karter; and a good friend, Jane Steva.
