Lorraine Johnson

Lorraine C. Johnson, 79, of Waukon died Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society - Waukon. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 20 at Martin - Grau Funeral Home in Waukon with Pastor Ken Kimball officiating. Burial was at Lansing Ridge Cemetery in rural Lansing.

Lorraine Carrol Johnson was born January 5, 1943 in La Crosse, WI, the daughter of John E. and Ermina (Nelson) Boyd. March 7, 1943, she was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon, and she was then confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Lansing July 1, 1956. Lorraine attended Three Corners country school in rural Lansing and graduated in 1961 from Kee High School in Lansing. Following graduation, Lorraine was a secretary for the superintendent at the Lansing school.

September 30, 1961, she married Walter Norbert Johnson at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Lansing. They farmed in the Lansing area for two years before moving to Luana to help farm for a year; they then moved back to Lansing to farm with family. She and Walter moved to the Churchtown area and ran the Landmark from 1975-1976. Lorraine also worked at Northern Engraving in both Waukon and Lansing.

She is survived by her children: Kristy (Don) Bollman of Waterville, and Kevin (Cindy) Johnson and Mike Johnson, both of Waukon; six grandchildren: Jason Bollman, Casey (Brad) Moen, Cody Bollman, Jake Bollman, and Sierra and Brent Johnson; six great-grandchildren: Taylor and Lauryn Howard, Brooklyn Moen, and Danielle, Hunter and Karter Bollman; two step-grandchildren: Amber Udelhaven and Abbie Gregory; two step-great-grandchildren: Blake and Brad Gregory; and her two sisters: Betty (Harvey) Estebo of Waukon and Mary Winters of Lansing.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter, in 2020; her brother, William Boyd; her sister-in-law, Eleanor Boyd; and her brother-in-law, Don Winters.

Honorary casketbearers were Don Aldrich, Harvey Estebo, John and Robert Iseli, Ron Schultz and Jerry Troendle. Lorraine’s grandchildren served as casketbearers.
