Registration deadline for Waukon Park & Recreation 4th-7th grade baseball and softball is March 7

The Waukon Park & Recreation Department is preparing for its summer baseball and softball programs. Registration forms are being made available early this year for fourth through seventh grade participants just to get a better idea of how many kids are planning to play through the Park & Recreation system this summer since participation numbers in these grades have been declining.

As in previous years, fourth and fifth grades will practice and play in town, with hopes of having practice during the day for this age group. It is desired to have three practices a week with Wednesday night games and all of that taking place at the softball complex. Practices will tentatively start the week of May 29 and games would start the week of June 5 and run five weeks, into mid-July, with parents helping coach during the games.

The sixth and seventh grade age group will travel to other towns in northeast Iowa to play weeknight games. Typically, this age group starts practice mid-May with games starting the beginning of June and running until mid-July. Practices are usually in the afternoons every day during the week unless there is a game. All practices and home games will take place at the softball complex. Busing will not be provided to away games for sixth and seventh grade, with parents being responsible to get their child to the games.

Online registration is available at by creating a family account and paying online with a credit/debit card. Any other paper forms should be completed and returned with the appropriate registration fee to the Waukon Wellness Center or mailed to Waukon Park & Recreation, c/o Carter Duerkop, 1220 3rd Avenue NW, Waukon, IA 52172.

Registration fees increase after this Friday, March 3 for baseball/softball. The final deadline to turn in forms is the following Tuesday, March 7, with no exceptions allowed.

Registration for Kindergarten through third grade baseball and softball will become available in April.
