P.S.S.T. student artwork calendar raises funds for elementary art program ...

In the fall and winter of this school year, P.S.S.T. (Parents Supporting Students and Teachers - the parent organization that helps support the elementary schools in the Allamakee Community School District) partnered with the elementary art program at East and West Elementary Schools in Waukon to make student artwork into a yearly calendar for each school. West Elementary preschool and transitional Kindergarten students made artwork for each month with finger painting. Kindergarten through second grade students learned about tessellation and constructed monthly themed tessellation pictures. At East Elementary, each class made a mural of a famous American, during which they used creativity and problem solving to make group murals. Mrs. Emily Timm helped students create the artwork and P.S.S.T. helped facilitate creating and selling the calendars, a project that raised $373 for the elementary art program to purchase specialty supplies. P.S.S.T. plans to continue this fundraiser each winter. Pictured above are East Elementary students with their art teacher, Mrs. Emily Timm, displaying some of the artwork they’ve created.
