Aaron “Hollywood” Marsh

Aaron L. “Hollywood” Marsh, local Waukon business man, age 76, died peacefully Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Dubuque Specialty Care Nursing Home. A Military Burial was held at the Jewish/Ansche Chesed Cemetery on Losey Boulevard in La Crosse, WI June 15.

Aaron L. “Hollywood” Marsh was born May 6, 1947 in Washington, DC, the son of Jesse Marsh and Etta Stern. Born into a circus family, “The House Of Mirth”, Aaron would spend most of his childhood, with his older brother Max, attending boarding schools and working the circus during the summers.

Aaron attended Castle Heights Military High School in Lebanon, TN. After finishing high school, Aaron joined the Air Force, from which he was honorably discharged. He then attended college in California. Aaron later moved to New Orleans, LA to be closer to his brother, Max, and went on to open “Aaron’s Antique Mall”, one of many stores  he would open over the years.

Aaron loved to travel to various flea markets and shows around the country and it was at one of these shows, the famous outdoor antique show in Round Top, TX, that he would meet Elliot Wolfson and wife JJ, an antique dealer from Waukon. They became instant friends and Aaron moved to Waukon in 2002. The rest is history.

Aaron became known as “Hollywood”, traveling to flea markets and antique shows all around the Midwest, making friends wherever he went. His favorite show that he attended five times a year was in Marquette, the “Marquette Flea Market”. Its vendors would become Aaron’s true “other family”. He enjoyed playing cards, collecting antiques, and just talking with friends. He also enjoyed taking part in Rendezvous Days.

Aaron was a member of Congregation Sons Of Abraham. He was preceded in death by his parents and his best friend, Elliot Wolfson. He is survived by his brother, Max and wife Deb of Brooklyn, NY; nieces and a nephew; Missy Mae (his much loved dog); special friends Bobbie Schroder, Jim Magner, Darren Burroughs, Jerry Halverson, Dean and Mary Jackson, Ozzie and Phyllis Quandahl and granddaughter Jill, Pat and Patty O’Neill, the S&D Cafe breakfast klatch friends; and longtime friends Al and Brenda Louis of La Crosse, WI.

“Aaron, may you rest in peace; you may be gone but never forgotten...”
