Duane R. Miller, 89, of Waukon died Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Memorial services will be held Friday, September 29 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon with Pastor Grant VanderVelden officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Friends may greet the family from 9 a.m. until time of services Friday at the church. Martin - Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.
Duane Roger Miller was born August 9, 1934 on his parents’ farm in the Wexford area, rural Lansing, the son of Frank and Eunice (Klocke) Miller. He attended school in Ludlow Township through 8th grade.
June 20, 1954, he married Shirley Price at Forest Mills United Methodist Church in rural Postville. Duane and Shirley farmed in Ludlow Township, raising a dairy herd and hogs from 1954 until 1991, when they moved to rural Lansing. After retiring, he worked various jobs. In 2005, they moved to Churchtown before moving to Waukon in 2017.
Duane was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Waukon. He loved spending time outdoors, mushroom hunting, hunting and fishing, especially with his grandchildren. Duane enjoyed playing cards, telling stories, and square dancing every Saturday night.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of Waukon; his children: Debra (Eddie) Kuster of Genoa, WI, Frank (Vicky) Miller of Lansing, Donna (Mick) Krambeer and Julia Lammers, both of Monona, and Donald “Butch” (Judy) Miller of Postville; 13 grandchildren: Darcy (Harry) Gerndt, Melissa (Jeremy) Wolfe, Rob (Sarah) Fuelling, Michael (Theresa) Molamphy, Mimi (Junior) Wahlen, Douglas (Beth) Miller, Jennifer Lovstuen, Jaime (Jason) Schrandt, Carrie (Adam) Grove, Cody (Laura) Hill, Abi Jostand, Dane (Lupe) Miller and Karli (Jason) Smeltzer; 27 great-grandchildren; a brother, George (Lorna) Miller of Ely; a nephew, Terry (Yong Mi) Miller; and his faithful companion, Teddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Shirley Ann and Eleanor Miller; and a niece, Cindy Miller.
Honorary urnbearers are Duane’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Urnbearers are Duane’s children.
