Virginia Anne Robinson

Virginia Anne Robinson (Anne), died peacefully October 9, 2023 in Chicago, IL. A Celebration of Life will be held in Chicago at a future date.

Anne Robinson was born November 11, 1937 in Manchester. She was the daughter of Burdette and Lynne Harris. Being the child of a serviceman, Anne traveled much during her younger years with stops in Illinois, Texas, Alabama, Nebraska, among others.

It was in Hanover, IL that she met the young man she would eventually marry.  Jack and Anne Robinson tied the knot July 18, 1956.  They settled down in Hazel Green, WI where their first child, Roxanne, was born.  A second child, Randy, was born three years later in Manchester. The family lived in Edgewood before moving to Waukon in 1969. In 2001, Jack and Anne moved full-time to Winter Haven, FL where they spent 18 years.

Anne was a wonderful wife and mother, balancing home life and work at a time when that was not common for women. She was a talented office manager, handling a variety of jobs throughout her career, including public education, banking, and power company office coordination. Anne loved occupations that put her in touch with people. Her positive attitude, easy conversation style, and organizational skills made her a valued employee and a very popular figure about town.

Anne was young at heart and kept busy with many hobbies and interests. She eschewed television which gave her a lot of extra time for other interests, such as reading, walking, biking, cross-country skiing and golfing, to name a few. She loved ballroom dancing with Jack. She could often be found walking the town, in any season, in any weather.

She was an avid golfer.  She had a wonderful attitude for the game and couldn’t wait for spring so she could get out on the course. Anne was also well known for her quick wit and sense of humor. She was a favorite at the nursing facility, entertaining staff right up to her final days.

Anne was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. There was always lots of love around when Grandma came for a visit. Her world-famous chocolate chip cookies were a favorite. She has left a treasure trove of fond memories.

Anne is survived by her two children, Roxanne (Roger) Barsamian of Arlington, TX and Randy (Kathie) Robinson of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Chelsea (Chris) Maxey, Lisa Barsamian, Matthew (Jackie) Robinson and David (Kellen) Robinson; and two great-grandchildren, Graham Robinson and Cecilia Maxey.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Barb Owen; and her husband, Kendall Jack Robinson.
