Kee football team plays to 5-4 season record, third-place district finish leads to Eight-Player State Play-Off berth

The 2023 Kee football team played its way to every team’s desired destination, riding a series of ups and downs to a State Play-Off berth and ultimately a winning record for this past fall’s campaign at 5-4. Included in that overall winning mark was an even more successful 4-2 result in Eight-Player District 3 play that placed the grid Hawks in third place in District 3 and earned them automatic qualification for postseason play.

Starting off the season with three of its five wins on the season - with the Hawks averaging just over 62 points in those victories, Kee’s gridders followed that season-best win streak by alternating pairs of wins and losses to finish out the season. All four of this season’s losses for the Hawks came to teams that also qualified for this season’s State Play-Offs, with Kee giving each of those four teams a strong early battle, including playing top 10-rated Central City to a 28-28 tie in the third quarter of their first-round State Play-Off match-up before having this season brought to a close just over one quarter later with a 52-28 loss to the Wildcats.
