Dr. Dale Lonning
Dr. Dale L. Lonning, age 52, of Dubuque completed his earthly journey January 15, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics while surrounded by his loving family. To honor Dale’s life, a private service was being held at Grand View Methodist Church. Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Dale’s family.
Dale was born November 22, 1971 in Waukon, the youngest son of Frank and Revelyn (Robey) Lonning. He was raised with a strong work ethic and a kind and generous spirit. Dale earned his Bachelor’s degree from Simpson College and completed his Doctorate in Chiropractic at Palmer College before he and his wife, Danielle Heck-Lonning, moved to Dubuque to begin their careers and start a family.
Danielle was sadly called home ahead of Dale April 12, 2019. If there is any peace to be found it’s simply that he and Danielle are now reunited again for all of eternity.
Dale took great pride in his work, but he also appreciated that to experience true joy in this life, there must be balance. His generosity made the world a better place and his sense of humor could brighten any room. In his free time, Dale looked forward to football season and was always ready to watch his Hawkeyes play.
Dale was gifted with a strong intellect which afforded him the ability to recall endless facts on a wide array of subjects at a moment’s notice. If there was ever a perfect member to be present on any trivia team, Dale would have always been the ringer.
It’s difficult to imagine moving forward without Dale and Danielle walking among us. Our hearts could not possibly be heavier and more broken than we find them today, but we pray that we will find peace in time in the abundance of wonderful memories he leaves behind.
Those left behind to cherish the memory of Dale include his two adored daughters, Alexis “Lexi” Lonning and Ava Lonning, both of Asbury; his parents, Revelyn Lonning of Waukon and Frank (Donna May) Lonning of Waukon; his siblings, Lori (Ron) Moore of Lilburn, GA, Michelle (Jerry) Donahue of Waukon, Sharon (Dan) Larson of Columbia Heights, MN, Becky (Tim) Paxston of Le Claire and Bob (Audrey) Lonning of Waukon; his step-siblings, James (Kim) May of Palm Harbor, FL, Stacey (Jubal) Snitker of St. Charles, MN and Jennifer (Josh Teff) Jahnke of Dorchester; his in-laws, Jerry (Katherine) Heck of Asbury and Dacia (Dan DiCarlo) Heck of Chicago, IL; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Dale was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Danielle L. Heck-Lonning.
