Waukon boys basketball team plays to an undefeated week with wins at South Winn, at home vs. New Hampton and at Crestwood

Sophomore Colton O’Neill sets new single-game record for steals with nine at Crestwood

The Waukon boys basketball team competed in one of its busiest weeks of the season with a trio of games this past week, landing all three of those in the win column. The bucket Tribe started the week pulling out a 58-55 non-conference win at South Winneshiek Tuesday, January 16 before sweeping back-to-back games in Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) play,  74-58 at home against New Hampton Friday, January 19 and 71-50 in a Saturday, January 20 game at Crestwood made up from a January 12 postponement and featuring a new program record for steals in a single game set by sophomore Colton O’Neill with nine.

Now holding an even 6-6 season record, including a 4-3 mark in Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) play that has the bucket Tribe tied for third place with Charles City with three league losses each behind NEIC-undefeated Waverly-Shell Rock and single-loss Decorah, the Indians were next scheduled to play three more games this week, starting with a pair of non-conference games on back-to-back nights early in the week that include traveling to Independence Monday, January 22 before hosting Prairie du Chien, WI Tuesday, January 23 and then welcoming Class 3A third-rated Waverly-Shell Rock Friday, January 26. The Tribe will then hit the road the following week to play at North Fayette Valley Tuesday, January 30 and at Class 3A fifth-rated Decorah Friday, February 2.
