Home ›Kee girls basketball team opens week with 47-42 loss at Central Elkader, bounces back with wins of 56-31 over South Winn and 47-15 at Postville
After its first loss in nearly three weeks to start this past week, the Kee girls basketball team’s competition slate got consistently better as the week wore on, as the Hawks of the hardcourt won two of their three ballgames this past week. Beginning with a 47-42 loss in a January 12 make-up game at Central Elkader Monday, January 22 that snapped a four-game win streak and knocked them out of the share of the Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) they had earned in the week prior, the Kee girls went back to work to remain in contention for a high-end UIC finish, starting with a 56-31 home win over
South Winneshiek Tuesday, January 23 followed by a 47-15 road rout at Postville Friday, January 26.
Kee’s girls hold a 13-5 season record that includes a 12-3 mark in Upper Iowa Conference play that places the Hawks in a current tie for second place with North Fayette Valley after the TigerHawks lost to now league-leading MFL/MarMac this past week. Another full week of competition this week will see the Lady Hawks host North Crawford, WI Monday, January 29 and play at West Central Tuesday, January 30 before playing at Spring Grove, MN Friday, February 2 to wrap up their regular season. They will then prepare for their Class 1A regional tournament road to begin, with that postseason path yet to be mapped out.
