Waukon boys track team claims pair of third-place team finishes at New Hampton Invitational and annual Northeast Iowa Conference Meet

Senior Wyatt Gulla wins 400m NEIC crown, helps 4x800 repeat as NEIC Champion

The final week of the regular season for the Waukon boys track and field team saw the Indians claim a pair of third-place finishes this past week as they now prepare for possible postseason extension. The track Tribe opened this past week with a third-place team finish at the New Hampton Invitational Monday, April 29 before doing likewise at the annual Northeast Iowa Conference Meet at Charles City Thursday, May 2, where the Indians claimed a pair of NEIC event championships, one of them by senior Wyatt Gulla in the 400 meter dash and the other being anchored by Gulla, as he joined forces with sophomore Brandon Leppert and fellow seniors Skyler Dugan and Jack O’Neill for repeat NEIC supremacy in the 4x800 relay.

The Indians are next scheduled to compete in their Class 2A State Qualifying Meet at Denver Thursday, May 9.
