The Waukon girls track and field team initially came away from its Class 2A State Qualifying Meet at Denver Thursday, May 9 knowing five young ladies in five events were guaranteed an extension of their season to every high school track and field athlete’s desired destination. Those five Indian events featured the required top-two finishes necessary for qualification for this year’s Iowa High School Track and Field Meet in Des Moines taking place later this week, but as the eight at-large event qualifying performances from across the state of Iowa were sorted out, another four young ladies in one other event were added to that season grand finale mix, with all of those State Meet qualifications headlining the Indians’ effort that placed the track Tribe fifth in the final 12-team standings at Denver.

ON TO STATE
The Waukon track and field ladies will now compete among the Class 2A elite in their six qualified events at the State Track and Field Meet this Thursday through Saturday, May 16-18.
