Joyce Stanton

Joyce L. Stanton, 84, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024 at her home. Per her wishes, she will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. June 22 at Grandview Baptist Church, Davenport. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. until time of service.

Inurnment will take place at 11 a.m. June 24 at the Center Baptist Church Cemetery, Lansing. Memorials may be left to Grandview Baptist Church. Online condolences may be expressed at the funeral home website, www.weertsfh.com.

Joyce was born September 23, 1939 in Lansing to Clarence and Lillian (Johnson) Shogren. She graduated from Waukon High School in 1957. Joyce married Bill Stanton in Lansing (later separated). Joyce worked for a number of retail stores throughout the Quad Cities including WT Grant, Montgomery Ward and Kile’s Hallmark.

Joyce was a member of and served in many capacities at Grandview Baptist Church. She was a talented seamstress, creating a number of gifts for her family. She enjoyed painting landscape scenes, and crocheting everything from blankets to potholders. Joyce was an avid gardener, she cared for her flowers outside in her yard and plants inside as well. She was a collector of items including beanie babies and figurines. Most importantly, Joyce will be remembered for her sense of humor.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband; her children, Bob Stanton of Longview, WA and Kathy (Terry) Ford of Prior Lake, MN; her grandchildren, Rachel and Lindsey Ford; her sisters-in-law, June Shogren and Janice Shogren; many nieces and nephews; and her in-home helper/friend Tami Kaminski.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Richard Stanton; her siblings, Clarice Fisher Taylor, Lester Shogren and Vernon Shogren; and her nieces, Elaine Riexinger and Nicole Schaer.
