Kee baseball team’s three wins in five games include sweep of UIC trio

The Kee baseball team played to three wins in its five games this past week to currently hold a 17-5 season record that includes a 9-1 mark in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play. The Hawks opened the week with a home doubleheader sweep of Turkey Valley Monday, June 10 by scores of 6-0 and 5-0 before posting a 13-1 mercy-rule win at Postville Thursday, June 13 and then falling in two games against Moravia in a varsity matinee doubleheader Saturday, June 15 at Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, 4-1 and 15-5 in six innings. Details of those two Saturday games will be printed in the June 26 edition of The Standard due to an early print deadline for this June 19 edition because of the Juneteenth postal holiday.

The Hawks have a big week ahead of them in UIC play as they were scheduled to play road doubleheaders at fellow league front-runners on back-to-back nights, traveling to MFL/MarMac Monday, June 17 and then South Winneshiek Tuesday, June 18 before hosting Clayton Ridge Thursday, June 20 and then playing in the South Winneshiek Tournament Saturday, June 22.
