Waukon baseball team book-ends five-game week with pair of wins, splitting two home games with Crestwood and rallying at Riceville

The Waukon baseball team book-ended this past week with its only two victories of a five-game stretch, playing to a current season record of 5-12 that includes a mark of 3-9 in Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) play. The diamond Tribe opened the week splitting two games at home against Crestwood Monday, June 10, winning by an 11-5 result before falling by a 4-1 count in the nightcap. Three games in less than 24 hours to end the week saw the Indians fall in two games at Waverly-Shell Rock Friday, June 14, 6-2 and 11-1 in six innings, before wrapping up the week with a rare matinee game Saturday, June 15 where the Tribe posted a 4-3 comeback win at Riceville, with details of that Saturday contest being printed in the June 26 edition of The Standard due to an early print deadline for this June 19 edition because of the Juneteenth postal holiday.

The Indians were next scheduled to host Turkey Valley Monday, June 17 and Decorah Wednesday, June 19. They will next host Charles City Monday, June 24 and MFL/MarMac Wednesday, June 26 before playing at New Hampton Friday, June 28.
