Waukon softball team’s single win in six games played comes over Class 5A Cedar Rapids Washington at West Delaware Tournament

The Waukon softball team played a total of six games this past week, putting one of those in the win column to currently hold a 6-9 season record that includes a mark of 1-5 in Northeast Iowa Conference play. The Lady Indians fell in a home doubleheader with Waverly-Shell Rock Tuesday, June 11 by scores of 14-1 in five innings and 8-2 before winning one of four games played  at the two-day West Delaware Tournament to end up in 12th place in the 16-team tournament, including a 13-0 loss in four innings to Class 3A third-rated Dubuque Wahlert and a 13-1 win in four innings over Class 5A Cedar Rapids Washington Friday, June 14 before playing to an 11-1 defeat in five innings against Independence and a 6-2 loss to Monticello Saturday, June 15. Details of those two Saturday tournament contests will be printed in the June 26 edition of The Standard due to an early print deadline for this June 19 edition of The Standard due to the Juneteenth postal holiday.

The softball Indians were next slated to play at Crestwood Tuesday, June 18 and at North Fayette Valley Thursday, June 20 before hosting New Hampton Friday, June 21. They will then play at Decorah Tuesday, June 25 before hosting MFL/MarMac Thursday, June 27 and then playing at Waverly-Shell Rock Friday, June 28.
