Kee softball team nearly perfect in seven games this week, stays perfect in UIC play with three road sweeps; Lone blemish is 9-6 loss at Class 4A Waverly-SR

The Kee softball team put together a nearly perfect week on the diamond but was able to remain perfect in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play with all six of this week’s wins coming against UIC opponents. That UIC perfection included doubleheader road sweeps by double-digit margins, beginning with wins of 15-4 and 12-0 in three innings at MFL/MarMac Monday, June 17 and victories by margins of 20-5 in five innings and 14-1 in four innings at Turkey Valley Wednesday, June 19. The lone blemish on this week’s Kee results came in a 9-6 loss at Class 4A Waverly-Shell Rock Thursday, June 20, with the Lady Hawks bouncing back to hand Clayton Ridge UIC losses of 4-1 and 15-1 Friday, June 21 in games rescheduled by rain from June 12. Due to unforeseen circumstances, details of those final five games of this past week will be printed in the July 3 edition of The Standard.

Currently holding a 15-11 season record that keeps them undefeated in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play at a league best 10-0, the Kee girls were next scheduled to play at South Winneshiek Wednesday, June 26 in a match-up of two UIC-undefeated teams before playing in the Don Bosco Tournament Friday and Saturday, June 28-29. The Lady Hawks will then play a full slate of games the following week, including hosting West Central Monday, July 1, welcoming Riceville Tuesday, July 2 and hosting North Fayette Wednesday, July 3 before playing at Jesup Friday, July 5 and hosting Sumner-Fredericksburg Saturday, July 6 prior to postseason tournament play beginning the following week, with further tournament details yet to be released.
