The Waukon baseball team played just three games this past week and had just one of those three narrow battles end up in the win column to currently hold a season record of 6-14 that includes a mark of 3-11 in Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) play. The diamond Tribe opened the week with a 4-3 home win over Turkey Valley Monday, June 17 before falling in two hard-fought battles at home against Decorah Wednesday, June 19 by scores of 6-4 in nine innings and 4-3. Due to unforeseen circumstances, details of those Wednesday games against Decorah will be printed in the July 3 edition of The Standard.
The Indians were next scheduled to host Charles City Monday, June 24 and MFL/MarMac Wednesday, June 26 before playing at New Hampton Friday, June 28. They will then play at Crestwood Monday, July 1 before hosting North Fayette Valley Tuesday, July 2 and Oelwein Wednesday, July 3 to wrap up their regular season. Postseason tournament play begins for the Indians Saturday, July 6 at home against Postville.
