The Waukon softball team had a relatively light week get even lighter when its Friday, June 21 home game with New Hampton was postponed by rainy weather to Monday, June 24. Prior to that postponement, the Lady Indians played to a split at Crestwood Tuesday, June 18, winning game one by a 12-8 result before falling by a 4-2 loss in the nightcap, and then falling by just a 9-8 result at North Fayette Valley Thursday, June 20. Due to unforeseen circumstances, details of that loss at North Fayette will be printed in the July 3 edition of The Standard.
Currently holding a 7-10 season record that includes a mark of 2-6 in Northeast Iowa Conference play, the Lady Indians were next slated to make up their June 21 postponement at home against New Hampton Monday, June 24 before playing at Decorah Tuesday, June 25, hosting MFL/MarMac Thursday, June 27 and then playing at Waverly-Shell Rock Friday, June 28. The Waukon girls will then finish out their regular season schedule at home, hosting Oelwein Monday, July 1, Charles City Tuesday, July 2 and Crestwood Monday, July 8 before starting postseason tournament play at a site, date and time yet to be announced.
