Waukon baseball team splits four games played, including sweep of Charles City, losses to MFL/MarMac and sixth-rated New Hampton

The Waukon baseball team played to a split of what amounted to four games being played this past week, getting both those wins the first night of the week with a home doubleheader sweep of Charles City Monday, June 24 by scores of 12-6 and 10-0 in six innings. The Indians then fell to MFL/MarMac at home, 16-9, Wednesday, June 26 before falling by just a 4-3 result in a five-inning game played at Class 2A sixth-rated New Hampton that was supposed to be part of a road doubleheader Friday, June 28 but instead had its second contest postponed to this Wednesday, July 3.

Currently holding a season record of 8-16 that includes a mark of 5-12 in Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) play, the Indians were next scheduled to play a NEIC doubleheader at Crestwood Monday, July 1 and host North Fayette Valley Tuesday, July 2 before making up the final game of that rained-out doubleheader at New Hampton Wednesday, July 3, a game that will replace a previous home date with Oelwein. Postseason tournament play begins for the Indians this Saturday, July 6 at home against Postville.
