The Kee softball team wrapped up its regular season schedule this past week with a busy final week of seven games. The Hawks put four of those seven games in the win column, with those four wins all coming in Upper Iowa Conference doubleheader sweeps at home, 7-2 and 13-1 in three innings over West Central Monday, July 1 and 7-3 and 11-1 in five innings over North Fayette Valley Wednesday, July 3. The three non-conference games the Lady Hawks played this past week all ended up in the loss column, including a 6-0 loss at home to Riceville in a rain-shortened game of five innings Tuesday, July 2 and a 7-1 loss at Jesup Friday, July 5 followed by a 12-2 mercy-rule loss at home in five innings to Class 3A seventh-rated Sumner-Fredericksburg Saturday, July 6.
That final week of the regular season left the Lady Hawks with a 19-18 season record that includes a 14-2 mark in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play that leaves the Kee girls in second place in the final UIC standings. Kee’s diamond dwellers were next scheduled to begin Class 1A District Tournament play Monday, July 8 at home against Central Elkader.
