Waukon softball team battles through winless week of four games

The Waukon softball team played through a winless final full week of its regular season schedule this past week, falling in all four of its ballgames played to currently hold an 8-17 overall record that includes a 2-12 mark in Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) play. The Lady Indians opened the week with a 9-4 loss at home to Oelwein Monday, July 1 before being swept in a home NEIC doubleheader with Charles City Wednesday, July 3 in a date rained out from the night before, first falling by a 15-10 result in a marathon 12 innings in game one before also falling by a 19-4 result in six innings in the nightcap. The diamond Tribe wrapped its week with a 10-5 loss to Waverly-Shell Rock Friday afternoon, July 5 in a game rescheduled from Friday, June 28 and played at Decorah.

The Lady Indians were next slated to host Crestwood Monday, July 8 to wrap up their regular season schedule. They are then scheduled to begin Class 3A District Tournament play Thursday, July 11 at New Hampton.
