EACSD Board of Directors accepts resignation of board member Tony Becker, discusses changing meeting dates to fourth Monday of each month

The Board of Directors of the Eastern Allamakee Community School District (EACSD) met at Kee High School in Lansing Monday, July 22 for its regular monthly session. The session was delayed a week from its usual third Monday of the month schedule in order to allow new EACSD Superintendent Nick Trenkamp the opportunity to attend, as the school board for the Central Community School District in Elkader that the EACSD is sharing Trenkamp’s services with also meets the third Monday of each month.

After the adoption of the agenda, the July consent items, minutes of the June meetings, bills for June and July, Secretary’s Financial Report for June, and the Activity and Food Service June report were approved. The board also approved the purchase of three 75” Interactive displays and rolling carts in the amount of $6,597 for New Albin Elementary School.

Spanish Teacher Ann Berns presented the proposal for the district’s International Club to travel in the Spring of 2025. The trip is scheduled for April 18, 2025 through April 25, 2025. The club will spend time in New Orleans and sail aboard the Carnival Valor cruise ship to Mexico. The board approved the overnight stays for International Club students.

In personnel business, the board  approved a contract for Tammy Manning as junior high volleyball coach and approved a contract for Deliverance Hope as Kee High School secretary. In addition, the board accepted the resignation of Hannah Darling from her teacher aide position and Matt Steven from his social worker position within the district.

In preparation for the upcoming school year, the board approved both the 2024-2025 PK-12 Parent and Student Handbook  and the 2024-2025 New Albin Elementary Preschool Information Handbook. Several district plans were approved, including the Eastern Allamakee Confidential Safety Plan/Procedures and the Eastern Allamakee LAU Plan for English language learners.
