Waukon Swim Club 2024 completes undefeated dual meet season at 8-0 for NEISC season championship, places second at NEISC Meet

The Waukon Swim Club swam to a perfect dual meet record of 8-0 during its 2024 season, including a home meet victory over Decorah in an intense, narrow battle. That undefeated dual meet mark placed the Waukon swimmers at the top of the final Northeast Iowa Swim Conference season standings, with Decorah later edging Waukon in the final team scoring of the Northeast Iowa Swim Conference Meet to bring this 2024 season to a close.

There were 11 team records broken by three different swimmers this season, with Dane Burns claiming nine of those new standards in the 13-14 Year Old Boys division at four different meets. Three of those records by Burns were set June 25 at Calmar, including new standards of 27.15 seconds in the 50 Meter Freestyle, 28.65 seconds in the 50 Meter Butterfly and 35.39 seconds in the 50 Meter Breaststroke. Three more new marks were recorded by Burns July 9 in Waukon’s home win over Decorah, including a time of 24.98 seconds in the 50 Yard Butterfly, 31.18 seconds in the 50 Yard

Breaststroke and a clocking of 1:02.23 in the 100 Yard Butterfly. Burns also rewrote the 50 Yard Freestyle record with his time of 24.27 seconds at the June 13 meet at Manchester and set two news records June 18 at home against West Union, including in the 200 Yard Freestyle with his clocking of 54.81 seconds and in the 100 Yard Breaststroke in a time of 1:13.95.

Burns was joined by two male teammates in also setting records in their own age group of competition. Theo Rausch swam to a new 9-10 Boys 50 Meter Butterfly record of 38.76 seconds at the June 25 meet at Calmar. Jordan Snitker also rewrote the 13-14 Boys 200 Yard Freestyle record with his clocking of 2:10.16 in Waukon’s July 9 home win over Decorah.

The Waukon Swim Club brought its 2024 competition season to an official close with its annual season-ending awards banquet that was held July 22.
