Harpers Ferry Area Heritage Society breaking ground Saturday on Harpers Ferry Museum ...

A groundbreaking ceremony for the Harpers Ferry Museum (a sketched replica of which is pictured in the image at right) has been scheduled for Saturday, October 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Martelle Heritage Park, located at the corner of Vine Street and North 2nd Street in Harpers Ferry. Everyone is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony, which is being hosted and conducted by the Harpers Ferry Area Heritage Society.

Harpers Ferry Area Heritage Society officials say the footings for the building are going to be poured yet this fall, with the floor anticipated to be done in the spring. The remainder of the building will be completed as funding becomes available through the project’s capital campaign. Those wishing to make a donation can send that gift to the Harpers Ferry Area Heritage Society, P.O. Box 224, Harpers Ferry, IA 52146. Donors are asked to include “HFAHS Building Fund” in the memo line of checks. If anyone is interested in other ways to give, such as a gift of grain, bonds/stocks or from an IRA, contact Jane Hasek at 319-240-2460 Submitted image.
