Jean Ann Hurm, 77, of Avon Lake, OH, but born in Lansing, passed away unexpectedly October 26, 2024, due to a sudden cardiac arrest. Memorial services will be held Monday, November 11 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing with Fr. Joseph Sevcik officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery, Lansing. Friends may greet the family from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, November 10 at the church.
Born April 19, 1947, Jean Ann was a dedicated surgical nurse who later transitioned into medical research, playing a vital role in the approval of life-saving medical devices by the FDA. Her contributions have positively impacted countless lives, and she took great pride in her work.
Jean Ann was known for her independence, strong will, and spirited personality - qualities that endeared her to many. Cherished friends will fondly remember her as a wild card with a knack for being a delightful “pain in the ass.”
Jean Ann had a passion for reading, shopping, was a lover of animals, dark chocolate, and spicy food, and an indifferent, but avid euchre player who was tickled pink to win. She was a former Hurm Family Fantasy Football League Champion. Her championship-winning team was the most dominant in the league’s history and is unlikely to be matched. Her fondness for the color blue was a reflection of her vibrant spirit.
Jean Ann was a loving sister and doting aunt and is survived by her brother, James Hurm; her sister-in-law, Susan (nee Armstrong); her nephews, Matthew (Amanda), Kyle (Taylor), and Jon (Brittney); her niece, Edit; and her grandnephews, CJ and Cash. Jean Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Cyril and Catherine Murial (known as Packy).
Jean Ann’s legacy of compassion and determination will be cherished by all who knew her. Online condolences may be left at www.martinfunerals.com.
