EACSD Board holds work session and annual organizational meeting for new school year, approves purchase of new bus, security cameras

The Board of Directors of the Eastern Allamakee Community School District (EACSD) met at Kee High School in Lansing Monday, November 11. The meeting began with a work session prior to the regular board meeting.

Board members Bobbie Goetzinger, Heather Lutz, Joe Manning, Melanie Mauss and Arla Wagner were all present. Superintendent Nick Trenkamp and Board Secretary Michele Martin were also present.

During the work session, Superintendent Trenkamp gave a presentation that included an overview of certified enrollment, open enrollment history, unspent balance, insurance costs, class size, and current tax rates.

After the work session adjourned, the regular meeting of the board got underway. Grades PK-12 Principal Donna Thomas and Intervention Prevention Specialist Chad Winters joined those in attendance at the work session for the regular meeting. After the agenda was adopted, members of the Lansing FFA chapter including Advisor Ray Rankin and students Parker Leppert, Kyle Mauss, Addyson Rankin, Isabelle Mettille, Dustin Stendel and Alexus Rowan presented information about their recent attendance at the National FFA Convention at Indianapolis, IN. Advisor Rankin and the students highlighted the team events and the additional events they experienced during the trip.

The board approved the October 14, 2024 regular meeting minutes and proceeded to adjourn so that the annual organizational meeting could be started with the same members in attendance. Prior to the start of the organizational meeting, the regular meeting time and place and bus security cameras were added to the meeting agenda. The board approved the addition of these items to the agenda.

As part of the organizational meeting, President Bobbie Goetzinger was again nominated and re-elected as Board President. The board voted its approval and Board Secretary Michelle Martin administered the oath of office. Arla Wagner was nominated and elected as Vice-President and was also administered the oath of office. Wagner was also approved as the representative to the Allamakee County Assessors Conference Board.
