Bleeding injuries can happen anytime, anywhere. If let uncontrolled, severe bleeding injuries could claim a person’s life in as little as five minutes.
With that in mind, Emplify Health by Gundersen will be offering a STOP THE BLEED® training event Tuesday, March 25 at Meehan Memorial Lansing Public Library, located at 515 Main Street in Lansing, from 5-6 p.m. Anyone may participate in this training, which is being offered free of charge to the first 10 participants to register by the March 24 at 12 noon registration deadline.
The training is designed to teach bleeding control techniques through the STOP THE BLEED® program. Kelly Hilsabeck, BSN, RN, Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator of Emplify Health by Gundersen in La Crosse, WI will host the training.
STOP THE BLEED® is the result of a collaborative effort led by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT) to bring knowledge of bleeding control to the public. By learning how to control bleeding through the three quick STOP THE BLEED® techniques, individuals will gain the ability to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly and effectively to possibly save a life.
To register for the training, email kelly.hilsabeck@gundersenhealth.org or call 608-775-3054. Visit www.stopthebleed.org online for additional information.
