Lansing VFW Auxiliary #5981 is hosting its Annual National Vietnam Veterans Day Soup & Sandwich Supper Saturday, March 29 from 3-7 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church Hall located at 648 Main Street, Lansing. A Ceremony of Gratitude, to commemorate National Vietnam Veterans Day and to honor all Veterans, will begin at 5 p.m.
All Veterans are invited to attend. The event will include an expression of gratitude for this nation’s Veterans for their service and remembering their sacrifice to protect this nation during the Vietnam War and wars beyond.
Speakers at the Ceremony of Gratitude include Iowa House District 64 Representative Jason Gearhart, who is also Vice Chair of the Iowa House Veterans Affairs Committee; Michael Young, State Commander for Department of Iowa VFW; Judge John Bauercamper of the Allamakee County Veterans Museum; Heather Homewood, Director of Allamakee County Veterans Affairs; and Vietnam Veteran John Curtin, who is a Purple Heart recipient and was injured in combat on three different occasions during his service in Vietnam.
The cost for the meal is simply a Freewill Donation. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend to thank a Veteran during this Ceremony of Gratitude.
