Waukon boys wrestling 157-pound senior Holten Palmer works to control Eagle Grove junior Hayden Schafer in their consolation match at the Class 2A State Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines Wednesday-Saturday, February 19-22. In his return to the season grand finale, Palmer lost both of the matches he wrestled among the 157-pound elite, surrendering a fall in his opening-round match before losing this match by 23-8 technical fall to have his season and high school career brought to a close where every high school wrestler strives to be during their high school tenure. The differing ends of the spectrum for the Waukon boys wrestling team at the Class 2A State Tournament ended up yielding the same result for the two Indian matmen who qualified for this season’s grand finale held at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines Wednesday-Saturday, February 19-22. The debut for freshman 120-pounder Kaden Mitchell and the return of senior 157-pounder Holten Palmer among the Class 2A elite in their respective weight classes were each cut short with losses in both matches the Tribe mat pair wrestled at the tournament.
