EACSD Board sets several public hearing dates for coming months, approves variety of resignations

The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Allamakee Community School District (EACSD) was held at Kee High School Tuesday, February 18. Board President Bobbie Goetzinger called the meeting to order. Also present were board members Joe Manning, Melanie Mauss, Arla Wagner, and Heather Lutz (via Zoom), along with EACSD Superintendent Nick Trenkamp and Board Secretary Michele Martin. There were no visitors.

The meeting agenda was approved with the exception of removing Business Item A: 2025-2056 District Calendar. The board approved the February consent items, including the minutes of the January meeting, February bills, the Secretary’s Financial Report for January, and the January Student Activity and Food Service reports.

In personnel matters, the board approved a maternity leave request for band instructor Elizabeth Bahr. Regarding contracts and resignations, the board approved a contract for Dolan Pazour as Director of Vocal Music for Elementary, Middle, and High School Concerts. The resignations of Kaylee Weigle (Elementary Teacher), Julie Welsh (School Nurse), Misty Rogers (English Teacher), Gail Whalen (Cook), Rita Riehm (Paraprofessional), and Jody Johnson (Paraprofessional) were also approved.

In addition, the board approved the adoption of the English Department Curriculum “Into Literature” by Houghton Mifflin for grades 6-10, amounting to $19,520.81, which includes textbooks and digital resources for four years. The board also approved the Budget Adjustment Guarantee Resolution for Fiscal Year 2026 to levy property tax for the fiscal year 2025-2026 for the regular program budget adjustment as allowed under Iowa Code section 257.14.
