She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Thelma Slattery; and a sister, Marge Slattery Baxter.

Peg was born September 1, 1938, on a farm near Waterville, the daughter of William and Thelma Hermanson Slattery. She graduated in 1955 from St. Patrick Catholic School in Waukon and from Mt. Mercy College in 1957, earning an AA degree. After meeting on a blind date, Peg married Don Lefebure September 26, 1959, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon.

She was a secretary for Metropolitan Farm Mortgage for several years, as well as a loving and dedicated farm wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Peg was an active member of the St. Patrick’s Altar and Rosary Society in Fairfax, the Fairfax American Legion Auxiliary, and a dedicated member of St. Ludmila Catholic Church.

Peg was a special lady; she never sought praise for her work, nor ever complained. Peg quietly would accomplish whatever needed to be done, and did it well. She was humble, kind and had the highest pain tolerance. Peg was an amazing cook and spent many hours in the kitchen preparing meals for her family, especially during planting and harvest seasons. She brought a smile and joy wherever she went, and always had a rosary in her hands or close by.

Peg and Don had many longtime friends in Iowa as well as in Arizona where they spent several winters vacationing in Apache Junction. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the Gardens for the love and care they gave to Peg during her stay.
