The 2025 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Waukon will be held this Sunday, March 16, beginning at 1 p.m. All are invited to participate in this year’s parade with an Irish-themed entry at no cost.
Any businesses, organizations, families or individuals wishing to have an entry are asked to be lined up by 12 noon Sunday, with float entries lining up in the parking lot of WW Homestead Dairy and the former Northern Engraving plant, tractors unloading and lining up at the Sweeney Auction Service parking lot and horse units gathering at the Croell Redi-Mix plant on the southeast edge of Waukon.
The parade route will be the same as it has been in the past, beginning from the southeast edge of town and heading north up Rossville Road and Spring Avenue to the stoplight intersection with Main Street. Turning left on to West Main Street at the stoplights, the parade will venture up to Second Street SW, where the entries will turn left at the Post Office intersection, travel one block south to First Avenue SW, and then east back to Rossville Road, turning right at Kwik Star to head back south to its point of origin.
For additional information about the St. Patrick’s Day Parade contact the Sweeney family at Village Farm and Home in Waukon at 563-568-4577 or the Waukon Chamber of Commerce at 563-568-4110.
A number of events will again accompany this annual celebration, with some of those being advertised on Pages 12 and 13 in this week’s edition of The Standard. Among the more traditional events is the annual St. Pat’s Dinner taking place in the St. Patrick Church Hall in Waukon Saturday, March 15 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. and including carry-outs and delivery to homebound residents, along with live music, carnival games and a cash raffle. A meal to raise funds for St. Patrick Church youth attending the National Catholic Youth Conference is also being held at WW Homestead Dairy and Uptown Grill both prior to and during this year’s parade.
