Waukon girls track team returns half of its 2025 squad with letterwinning experience, including some multi-year State Meet qualifiers in relay events

The Waukon girls track and field team of 2025 will benefit from more than half of its squad returning with varsity letterwinning experience from previous seasons. Within that collection of 20 returning veterans this spring lies seven young ladies who bring back that veteran experience from the ultimate level of competition, the State Track & Field Meet.
Leading that list of veteran returnees is a senior trio that features a pair of those State Meet competitors, including three-year shuttle hurdle relay competitor Reese McCormick and 4x800 qualifier Mallory Berns, along with multi-year mainstay Mari Delaney. All four of this season’s junior competitors return as varsity letterwinners, with three of them being State Meet competitors as well in two-time mid-distance relay qualifier Elle Wilkins and her 4x800 companion Emma O’Neill from last year and 4x400 crewmate Willa Troendle from two seasons ago. Fellow junior Moriah Downing rounds out that list of veteran returnees from this year’s junior class.
The Lady Indians were scheduled to get their full team season underway Tuesday, March 25 at the Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) Indoor Meet at Luther College in Decorah. They are then slated to begin their outdoor season Tuesday, April 1 at the Frostbite Invitational at Sumner-Fredericksburg before traveling to compete in the Postville Invitational Tuesday, April 8 and then another invitational meet being held at Decorah Thursday, April 10.
