EACSD Board of Directors approves pair of repair project proposals, makes variety of personnel moves as school year comes to a close

Following a work session at 6 p.m. Monday, May 12 to discuss budgets and staffing, the Eastern Allamakee Community School District (EACSD) Board of Directors held its regular meeting at 7 p.m. at Kee High School in Lansing. Board President Bobbie Goetzinger called the meeting to order, with all board members present, including Heather Lutz, Joe Manning, Melanie Mauss, and Arla Wagner. Also in attendance were Interim Superintendent Patrick Heiderscheit, PK-12 Principal Donna Thomas, Intervention/Prevention Specialist Chad Winters, School Business Official Kris Smith, and Board Secretary Michele Martin. Visitor Shari Lubahn was also present.

Heiderscheit opened the meeting by presenting certificates to the board members in recognition of School Board Recognition Month. The board also approved the May consent items, including the minutes of the April meetings, bills for May, and financial reports covering the Secretary’s Financial Report, Student Activity, and Food Service.

Several agreements were approved as well as some expenditures for the buildings and technology. The board approved federal E-Rate funding and expenditures for district technology needs after a short presentation by Information Technology (IT) Director Dave Ellefson.

The board also gave approval for the softball team to participate in overnight tournaments in Manchester  June 20 and 21 and in Gilbertville June 27 and 28. The district will cover the costs of the hotel room for coaches.

A school district placement agreement with Upper Iowa University was approved, enabling student teachers to gain classroom experience in the district. The board also approved the Fiscal Year 2026 Technology Services Agreement and the 2025-2026 Service Agreement with Keystone Area Education Agency (AEA).

A contract for the transfer of state special education funding was approved, along with sharing agreements for both Building and Grounds Director and Transportation Director services with the Allamakee Community School District.
