The Waukon boys track and field team brought its 2025 spring season to a close among the state of Iowa Class 2A elite competing in the Iowa High School Track & Field State Meet Thursday-Saturday, May 22-24. Competing in four different events evenly split between relay and individual efforts, a multi-year qualifying senior left his mark among that Class 2A elite with the track and field Tribe’s lone medal-winning effort in his final go-round at the big blue oval at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, while the Indians’ other three events all finished in the latter half of their grand finale field, with all but one of those other event qualifiers eligible to return next year - and some for multiple years to come.
Competing for the third time among Class 2A’s elite in the 3200 meter run at the season grand finale, senior Isaac Reisinger both started his team’s State Meet experience for this year and ended his overall own with the best finishes for each Thursday morning, May 22. Reisinger worked his way up from further back in the pack to edge out an eighth-place All-State medal-winning finish by just over a tenth (.10) of a second in a time of 9:54.39. That finish is Reisinger’s best-ever in his three seasons at the big blue oval in Drake Stadium and wraps up his high school distance running career with book-end All-State finishes after he also ran to such honors at this past fall’s State Cross Country Meet in Fort Dodge. This year’s Class 2A 3200 meter run State Championship was won by Grundy Center junior Emerson Vokes in a time of 9:27.66.
