In lieu of flowers, we ask that you live with intention, just like Kristine did. Hug your family, take a drive with the windows down, and make something special for someone you love.

Born December 2, 1962, in Neillsville, WI, to Patrick and Betty Plunkett, Kristine was the youngest of six siblings. She grew up in Chippewa Falls, attending Holy Ghost Catholic grade school and later Waukon, where she met lifelong friends Brenda Leiran and Diane Hirth. Kristine graduated from Waukon High School in 1981, and was married that same year to her high school sweetheart, Brian Selberg. They had one son, Ryan, and separated soon after in 1985. Following this, Kristine went on to receive her Bachelors degree in Psychology from University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 1992.

Finally, she received her Masters in School Counseling at University of Wisconsin-Stout in 1996.

Kristine spent her career as a dedicated and compassionate school counselor. She had a uniquely creative spirit that showed in everything she touched. She loved beads, buttons, wallpaper, yarn, and vintage fabrics - always turning old things into something beautiful. She crocheted, sewed, designed, and styled with a flair that was wholly her own. Her house was filled with little details, porch naps, soap operas, and always, her dog and best-friend, Jack.

She loved being outside, baking cookies with her granddaughter, and car rides with the windows down. Her humor, warmth, and accidental silliness brought joy to everyone who knew her. In her final years, following a cancer diagnosis, Kristine lived intentionally - traveling, shopping, creating, and spending meaningful time with family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Ryan Selberg; her granddaughter, Sydney Ward; siblings, Bethany (Larry) Ketchum, Jean (Joe) Bernier, Brian (Robin) Plunkett, and Karen (Pete) Saltness.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, John Jennings; her brother, Patrick; and her brothers-in-law, Steven Madson and Joel Prince.

If Kristine could see this obituary, she’d probably say it was too much - then suggest adding lace, beads, and a little glitter. Special thanks to Dr. Basu and the Mayo Clinic team.
